One Green thought can start a revolution…

For large events, including weddings there is a big expenditure of resources and a high amount of waste. Plus, many of the products used are toxic to the air we breathe and in a landfill within a week. So, in early 2009 Bliss Parties owner Ghita Andersen investigated and sourced products that could reduce this waste, and thereby reduce the carbon footprint of every event. The results revealed that with some tweaking and using a few alternate products, a whole new system using biodegradable and recyclable materials could save on resources.

Because each event has a carbon footprint, it adds to the carbon trail of event planners, corporate and private clients, guests, the hotels and catering and the immediate environment. The use of natural materials, local produce and recycled products can add a luxurious feel and healthiness to an event.

Our eco-centrepieces are made of recycled materials, biodegradable products or re-used again and again. All our brochures are colour coded to show their eco-friendly ratings.

    Here’s how we lower our/ your event carbon footprint ::

    • Floral Centrepieces and Decor Biodegradable floral foam (oasis) and cellophane.
    • Flowers are sourced from local WA growers
    • Centrepiece Bases can be made of glass, hats, ceramics, bio-bamboo, iron candelabra, baskets, twigs, sea shells, metal, natural fabrics, feathers and produce boxes which are all re-used and collected.
    • Water crystals are natural, non toxic, come in every colour and last for weeks. Did you know you can use them post-event in pot plants to retain water!
    • Soy bean Candles are soot and smoke free, non carcinogenic, emit no chemicals can be used without ventilation which is ideal for marquees and weddings indoors.
    • Paper Invitations can be electronically sent or printed on recycled paper. Estimates are emailed and our brochures are available as a downloadable pdf.
    • Plastics We limit the use of polystyrene for props and recycle our bottles and containers.
    • Marketing Most of our marketing is done online or via word of mouth. Our brochures are downloadable.
    • Workshop The Bliss Parties workshop is five minutes from Perth City in Joondanna and is not a show case business with wasted space. We work at many venues and are therefore mobile and come to you.
    • Produce We like to use local fruit, cheeses, vegetables, breads and seafood.
    • Beverages With the best in boutique beers and wines in our own WA region, there really is no need to source from interstate or Europe for an exceptional world-class drop. However, most Bliss Parties venues already supply imported beers, French champagne and good New Zealand whites.
